Over four days CHVN 95.1 FM was live at St. Vital Centre for another year of Operation Christmas Child (OCC). Our final total for 2018 was 2,369 boxes.

Day 4

Day number four got underway with an incredible 1728 boxes thanks to huge donations over the final three hours. Volunteers arrived at 9:00 a.m. and were blown away by the number and are anticipating an incredible day today.

It started with a number of families dropping off their shoeboxes. Kids were excited to talk about what was in their boxes.

Kayla, 10, and Emma, 8, were thrilled to be sending stuffed animals and special toothbrushes to the Ukraine with the shoeboxes they dropped off this afternoon.

Volunteers received a surprise visit, too, from Alice the kitten, whose owners brought her by to encourage the hard working of all those helping out.

ly, to finish CHVN's day at St. Vital, six-year-old Andrew showed up with his family bringing 13 boxes. Andrew's mom said it was his idea to pack nine boxes, but with his friend's help, he exceeded that. Then he turned it into a full family event.

Day 2

We are starting day two at 244 shoe boxes. That puts us just 37 shoe boxes under the pace of last year's day 1 total!

Of course, it's not just Winnipeg that's collecting shoe boxes this week. It's National Collection Week for OCC right across the country. Here's a great story of generosity out of Landmark, MB.

Day 1

We had an incredible start to this year's drive. As soon as the doors opened Patricia was there to donate four boxes. She's become a familiar face over the years and is often the first to drop off boxes.

Lots of children stopped by to fill boxes with their parents, too.

One lady came with 42 shoeboxes that she packed herself.
