No one is injured after a car crashed into two police vehicles while officers were arresting a suspected impaired driver.

The collision happened around 6:30 Wednesday evening, east of Elie. Headingley RCMP officers were on the left shoulder of westbound Highway 1, investigating a report of an impaired driver. After putting a suspect into a police SUV, a westbound car smashed into a police cruiser on scene, which went on to hit the police SUV, inside of which the impaired driving suspect and an officer were sitting.

The car flipped onto its roof and police say the driver had to be extricated from it.

An 82-year-old man from Elie is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act.

A 28-year-old man from Winnipeg was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol.

It is the law in Manitoba to slow down and move into the farthest lane when passing emergency vehicles working on the side of the road.
