A Winnipegger is alive today thanks in part to the quick thinking of neighbours.

Emergency crews were called to the 100 block of Semple Avenue Thursday night at 7:19 p.m. to reports of a fire in a single family home.

Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered flames coming from the home and heavy smoke conditions. An offensive attack was launched and crews had the fire extinguished by 8:03 p.m.

The lone occupant of the home was assisted to evacuate by neighbours prior to WFPS arrival at the scene. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.
