Although Christmas time is a festive time for many, for others it can be a reminder of the passing of a loved one.

On Wednesday, Palliative Manitoba launched their 32nd annual Memory Tree at St. Vital Centre, giving Manitobans a safe place to express their grief.

Palliative Manitoba says the Memory tree provides a tangible way to acknowledge and remember a person who has passed away.

Those who participate can write a personal message on a card and place it on the tree. Between 2500-3000 cards are hung on the tree each year.

Cards can be placed on the Memory Tree during mall hours. The tree will remain in place until Christmas Eve.
