MCC Spring fest is underway, don't miss your chance to buy a beautiful quilt or some new plants this weekend!

This weekend MCC is hosting their annual spring fest quilt show and plant sale. This year all the proceeds from both the show and sales are going toward

getting relief kits to the people around the work who have been affected by natural or man-made disasters.

Sofia Bezoplenko the Material Resources Coordinator in Winnipeg shared that all the funds raised at the event will go to making and shipping relief kits.

"A relief kit is one of our most requested items by our partners internationally, and it is one of the things we send out in instances of natural or man-made disasters," says Bezoplenko.

Specifically, it is a  five gallon pale with hygiene items for a family of four, so toothbrushes, soap, laundry soap, towels, all of that kind of stuff."

These relief kits will be going out to, Seria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Ukraine, and other neighboring countries.

Like the families receiving these kits, "each quilt has a story attached to it and that is a significant part of the quilt maker when they are making their quilt," said Bonnie, the head of the board for the quilt show.

The quilts are hanging on the walls all around the building as the office is turned into an art gallery of sorts.

The plant sale feature plants given to MCC by 12 different nurseries and lots of volunteers. There is a wide variety of plants available all day Saturday and until 7:00 tonight!
