Local adults and families are getting ready to spread out across the world as they spread the love of God.

MB Mission's ACTION program is holding a commissioning service today as they get ready to sent their participants across the globe. This year, those locations include Japan, Thailand, Central Asia, and Shamattawa First Nation here in Manitoba.

"We have church partners around the world," Lloyd Letkeman, Mission Mobilizer for Central Canada MB Mission. 24 people are off to meet with these partners, including 12 locals from here in Manitoba.

Each ministry partner has a different mission for the participants. In Japan, they focus on doing English language with the children, bringing people into the church by providing an essential service. MB Mission works with an orphanage in Thailand and the missionaries help them out during the summer. Another team is working on peace initiatives in Central Asia. Here in Manitoba, the team that goes to Shamattawa brings the blanket exercise with them and help bring about healing with our indigenous neighbours.

"Every Christian is a missionary," Letkeman said. "[People] with different gifts and different abilities and passions come together and really unify in Jesus Christ.

"And to be part of the global church . . . [those other churches] have things to teach us as well."

Letkeman said it's not without it's challenges but that makes it rich as well.

MB Mission is also passionate about mission happening right here at home, and Letkeman says mission has many different arms.

"Build a friendship with someone who is very different than you," Letkeman suggested. "The light of Jesus can't help but shine through and start transforming lives."

MB Mission would love to connect you with different ministries and agencies in the city who are looking for volunteers if you are looking for a way to serve here in the city.
