Manitobans have the chance to get out and fish for free this weekend.

Manitoba residents and non-residents are able to fish without a license on June 8 and 9, 2019.

Rochelle Squires, Manitoba's Minister of Sustainable Development, says "This year, I encourage you to spend time fishing with family and friends and relish in the many benefits angling has to offer, like relaxation, exercise and the chance to enjoy nature. Angling can help build strong bonds and create memories that last a life-time."

Squires says "these free fishing weekends are a great opportunity for first time anglers to get hooked on fishing."

Another free weekend takes place in the winter season, from February 15 to 17, 2020.
