Peguis First Nation released news last week that the use and selling of drugs no longer be allowed in homes on the reserve.

Band-owned homes have been officially banned from allowing the use or selling of drugs within.

"These actions will not be tolerated," stated the Chief and Council Peguis First Nation in a release.

According to the Chief and Council of the reserve, anyone using or selling illegal or non-prescription drugs will face eviction from their band-owned unit. They could also face banishment from the Peguis First Nation community.

These steps are being taken in an effort to end drug use and trafficking on the reserve said the Chief and Council. Leaders of the community continue to work towards making the reserve a drug-free area.

Peguis First Nation is the largest reserve area in Manitoba. Around 10,000 individuals of Cree and Ojibway descent call the community home.
