The National Hockey League’s regular season schedule is officially over.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced Tuesday the league is planning a 24-team Return to Play format.

The plan would see the top-four clubs in the Eastern and Western Conference’s play separate mini round-robin tournaments to determine seeding for the playoffs.

The other eight teams in each conference would play best-of-five play-in series to determine the final 16 teams for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The matchups include the Winnipeg Jets against the Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks take on the Minnesota Wild, the Edmonton Oilers face the Chicago Blackhawks and the Phoenix Coyetes meet the Nashville Predators. The defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars are the top four seeds in the West.

The play-in series in the East feature the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, the New York Islanders face the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers meet the Carolina Hurricanes. The top four seeds are the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers. Training camps would begin no earlier than the middle of July.

Each conference will be assigned a hub city with Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, Columbus, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Las Vegas and Minneapolis/St. Paul in the running.

The seven teams whose seasons are over are the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings.
