Every year there is an International Songwriting Competition. This year Jaylene Johnson is a finalist.

This is the world's largest international songwriting competition. It is now in its 16th year, and there were over 16,000 entries that came in from 137 countries. 355 finalists were selected from 23 categories of music. The winners will be announced in late April or early May. Over $150,000 in cash and prizes are up for grabs for 71 winners.

"You know as a songwriter I've submitted songs over the years and... it's just a little bit of validation, you know, when your songs do well." Johnson states.

All of the finalists' songs are posted on an online voting platform where you can listen and vote for your favourite finalist. The "People's Voice" votes are separate from the regular winners who are selected by professional judges.
