Connor Hellebuyck made 34 saves including 14 in the third period as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Washington Capitals 3-0 Thursday night at Bell MTS Place.

Hellebuyck recorded his fifth shutout of the season and is tied for the NHL lead in that department with Marc Andre Fleury of the Vegas Golden Knights and Elvis Merzlikins of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor each had a goal and an assist for the Jets who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Dmitry Kulikov had the other Winnipeg goal.

Washington goaltender Ilya Samsonov faced 31 shots.

The Jets (33-27-6) face the Oilers in Edmonton on Saturday and then begin a three-game homestand next Tuesday when they face the Buffalo Sabres.
