With the clock ticking, Agape Table is one step closer to finding a new home.

Late last year the organization, which feeds 350 plus people every morning, was informed that the space they are currently using in All Saints Anglican Church is being torn down to make way for a mixed rental apartment complex.

Although it has been quite the struggle, Jim Steep, chairman of the board of Agape Table says, they are getting pretty close to finding a new location.

"We are having some pretty serious talks with a couple of places, and I expect within the next few weeks that we would probably have an announcement," says Steep.

Once there is a signed agreement, Steep says there will be a number of ways that Winnipeggers will be able to get involved. That includes everything from helping with the move, to new construction that may be necessary, as well as financial help.

Steep says the location they are currently working with is very close to the centre of West Broadway.

They need to be out of their current space by the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the search for a new executive director at Agape Table continues.

"We have had a lot of applicants for the position, and we have narrowed it down to a short list of five or six people that will be phone interviewed," said Steep.

He thinks that by next week they will begin doing interviews in person.

"It is the dawn of a new era and we are really excited for the future of Agape Table," said Steep.
