For the second week in a row, a Providence Pilots athlete picked up the athlete of the week award.

The Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference announced that Zoe Kriznic, a striker with the Providence Pilots women's soccer team, was named the athlete of the week for week 3.

"I think it's a testament to her," said coach Tory Walker. "She's an extremely hard worker and that hard work comes through in her game."

Kriznic scored the Pilots' first goal of the season this weekend against the Universite de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges.

"I was hoping [I could win athlete of the week]," said Kriznic. "I didn't realize it was going to happen this soon."

It's her first year in post-secondary but she is already confident in her team. She says she can see them making it very far this season. Coach Walker sees Kriznic as a major part of that plan.

As for Kriznic's first year in Providence, she already has a favorite memory.

"Scoring the first goal of the season," she said. "Definitely a good start."
