Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter made his first public appearance since undergoing brain surgery in November.

Carter, who is 95 years old, underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain caused by bleeding from a fall.

He was back at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, this Sunday.

In late October, Carter fell and fractured his pelvis. He also had a fall a short time before that which required stitches above his left eye.

After just two weeks of recovery from his fall in October, Carter made his way back to church to teach Sunday school, which drew in a crowd of over 400 people.

Carter has taught Sunday school at various churches since he was a teenager.

Although he is unable to teach his Sunday school class at this time, his niece, Kim Fuller, has stepped in to give inspirational messages while he continues to recover.
