A pastor who spent decades ministering to fellow pastors, Rev. H. B. London Jr., has passed away at the age of 81.

Focus on the Family's president, Jimy Daly, wrote on his blog that London passed away last week after "a long and courageous battle with cancer."  He died at his home in Palm Desert, California, with his wife, Beverly, and other members of his family at his side.

"Our feelings are conflicted because, on the one hand, we rejoice that H.B. is now with our Lord and Savior – experiencing first-hand the indescribable joy of heaven that he has told so many people about during 60+ years of impeccable ministry," Daly wrote. "On the other hand, H.B.’s passing leaves a uniquely-shaped hole in our hearts, because we have lost a beloved friend and brother."

London was a fourth-generation minister, according to Daly. He spent over 60 years in ministry, and was still serving as pastor of Friendship Church of Sun City, in Palm Desert, California.

A large portion of London's ministry was spent as a "pastor to pastors" through Focus on the Family. He joined the ministry in 1991 when his cousin, James Dobson, invited him to "begin a second career" with them.

Daly credits London with a genuine "heart for others," and said that the London "was irrepressibly positive, upbeat, and [had an] encouraging spirit."

London was also a champion of Clergy Appreciation Month, and was well known for his Pastor to Pastor audio interview series. He was also the author or co-author of 13 books directed at those in vocational ministry.

Daly wrote in closing, "there’s no doubt that H.B. is hearing those precious words from Jesus: 'Well done, good and faithful servant!'"
