Lighthouse Mission reopened their doors today, largely due to an outpouring of community support.

The mission was able to resume serving the public, a mere three weeks following the flood that damaged their building, supplies, and equipment at the end of April 2017.

Other local agencies assisted in ensuring Lighthouse Mission regulars were fed and taken care of during their period of reconstruction, Cormie said.

Following the flood, Lighthouse Mission set a goal to raise $20,000 to cover repair costs. They reached their target in only two days, and have received to-date a total of approximately $26,000.

Cormie expressed gratitude to all those who came alongside the ministry during its time of need. "We know this is happening largely because of the generous support of people who came around us."

"It's a testimony, and certainly it has us feeling very grateful and valued by the people who flooded us with support after our flood of water."
