The City of Winnipeg is taking a stand and honouring the victims of a recent event in the United States.
The Mayor tweeted out a photo of the flags at City Hall being lowered to half-mast. This comes after a protest turned violent in Charlottesville, Virginia.
"Combatting racism/hate is everyone's responsibility," Mayor Brian Bowman said in his tweet. "Flags at [City Hall] lowered to half-mast in honour of victims in [Charlottesville]."
A group of white nationalist protesters and counterprotesters were out in Charlottesville before a car drove through the crowd, injuring 19 people and killing one.
