Winnipeg fire crews were kept busy Thursday morning battling a pair of blazes in the North End.

The first fire broke out shortly after 5:30 a.m. in a vacant bungalow in the 1600 block of Arlington Street.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within an hour.

There were no injuries reported.

The house suffered significant smoke, fire and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Meanwhile, about an hour later, crews were called to a debris fire in a vacant lot in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Once on scene, firefighters determined the fire was threatening a nearby home. Efforts were put in place to protect the home as crews worked to extinguish the fire.

No one was injured.

Fire officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
