Some may say it was a miracle that no one was killed after attempted murder on July 30.

In a release, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says, "At approximately 1:05 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a robbery at a convenience store in the 1100 block of Kildare Avenue East.

When WPS arrived at the scene, a male suspect had pointed a handgun at an employee’s head and pulled the trigger several times.

The firearm failed to discharge and the suspect re-inserted the ammunition, racked the firearm, pointed the weapon at the employee and attempted pulling the trigger again.

"The handgun did not fire, and the suspect left the store with stolen product," says WPS.

When leaving the store, the suspect also pointed the gun at two bystanders before fleeing.

WPS says, "Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. On August 3, 2019, at approximately 12:55 a.m., Major Crimes Unit investigators located a male at a residence in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue and placed him under arrest."

A 21-year-old male of Winnipeg - now detained in custody - has been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, Armed Robbery using a Firearm, three counts of Pointing a Firearm and many additional charges.
