An emergency alert text message was issued this afternoon as a test, but not everyone who should've received it did.

The test was to go out on all LTE-compatible devices within geographic broadcast areas, but Infrastructure minister Ron Schuler says there were some issues on the carrier-end of things.

"Nobody got the notice who was with TELUS, and there were a few glitches with a few of the other providers," says Schuler.

However, some TELUS customers have told us that they did receive the message.

Despite the difficulties, Schuler is still calling the test a success but says it probably wouldn't get us into med school. He says there will be a full investigation, but on the province's end, he says everything worked 100 per cent.

While not everyone received the text, others reported other problems.

Tracey Nickel says she received the alert, but no sound played. Others, including Jemison Bernadette Valencia, reported receiving the alert twice.

The test alert was also broadcast on television and radio.

"We're trying to get into a different area of notification outside of the traditional radio and television... this gets us into a market where individuals may not have a radio on, might not have a place to plug in a radio... it just helps us with covering more people," says Schuler.

There were glitches with the alert earlier this week in Quebec and Ontario.
