Well-known Hollywood actor Dennis Quaid is finishing up an album combining his faith with country roots.

After writing an original song for the movie I Can Only Imagine, in which he starred as Bart Millard's father, Quaid is now releasing a whole gospel album.

The single Quaid wrote and sang for the movie is called 'On My Way to Heaven.'

"I wrote it for my mom because my mom has always been there, her faith is unquestionable, so solid," says Quaid in an interview with CBN. "So I wrote it for her, but I guess it's my story."

Quaid shared that he'll be releasing a whole album alongside guest artists Billy Ray Cyrus, Tanya Tucker, and Kris Kristofferson.

The actor grew up going to church in Texas but fell away from his Christian roots when he was a teenager. After trying out some Eastern religions, Quaid came back to faith in God.

"I read the Bible twice, read the Koran, went to India nine times. Along the way, I came back to Christianity, and well, finding that it's really the same all throughout the world. People are people with the same sort of yearnings. We're all spiritual beings whether we know it or not."

There is no release date yet on Quaid's untitled album, other than sometime in the new year. Coming up Quaid will also be starring in two new faith films, American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story and On a Wing and a Prayer.
