A Conservative MLA says that the provincial government will not be supporting a private member's bill put forward to abolish Daylight Savings Time.

Riding Mountain MLA Greg Nesbitt took to social media on Thursday to clarify the provincial government's position on Bill 205.

"Our government will not be supporting this Bill, when it is expected to come up for debate this spring," Nesbitt wrote.

Nesbitt said that Manitoba's clocks are synchronized with the central time zone of the United States to ensure consistency with border crossings, airline flights, and the efficient flow of trade and communications with our largest trading partner.

He goes on to say that the government is not currently considering changes to Daylight Saving Time in Manitoba.
