The 2017 Canada Games have come to a close, capped off by a fantastic closing ceremony highlighting Manitoba.

The Summer Games that have taken over Winnipeg the past two weeks have come to a close. The closing ceremonies took place at Investors Group Field, and was a celebration of the hottest summer in half a century.

The home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers transformed into a giant festival, celebrating many of Winnipeg's annual celebrations and it's rich cultural heritage.

The afternoon started with a prayer from Metis Elder Norman Meade and Elder George Fleury, which preceded the countries athletes walking in to Sierra Noble, Canadian singer-songwriter and fiddler.

Team Manitoba was led by Maddy Mitchell, who was named the Team Toba flag bearer after winning a Manitoba-best five medals in CanoeKayak.

Many of Winnipeg's festivals were celebrated during the afternoon, including Winnipeg Folk Festival, Folklorama and Festival du Voyageur. Winnipeg's own Fred Penner came out to celebrate, singing music from his new album.

The anthem was sung by over 900 Winnipeg citizens in the Canada Games Gold Choir, which shook the stadium as the RCMP Honour Guard joined them on stage. Catriona LeMay Doan, Olympic speed-skater, was able to speak to the athletes as well, welcoming them to the Canada Games alumni.

The field was also filled with fantastical characters and large geese as they celebrated Canada's 150th anniversary at one point in the afternoon.

"Today is a day of many emotions. You came as ambassadors of your Province or Territory with a passion for sports and you have really impressed us," said Mariette Mulair, the Co-Chair of the Host Society in a release. "Whether you won or lost, we hope you will have a lasting memory from your participation in the Games and the life experience it provided."

Elder Dave Coucherne Jr, part of the group that ran the Pan Am Games Torch in 1967 over 800 kilometers, lit the Official Roly McLenahan Torch before passing it off to an athlete runner from Red Deer, who will host the next Canada Games.

Brett Kissel, Alberta-born country star, closed off the 2017 Canada Games.

The Canada Summer Games left some incredible numbers. A record for fans attending a U17 baseball game was set, as 6800 people watched Manitoba take home a silver medal against gold-winning Saskatchewan. Over 150,000 spectators took in the games, while more than 1.5 million Canadians tuned in on television at some point during the first week
