Fire crews are busy Friday evening battling a large blaze near Kilcona Park.
The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. behind a business located on Springfield Road, just east of Lagimodiere Boulevard.
It's unclear as to what is burning at this time. Large plumes of black smoke can been seen filling the sky in the area.
One witness says the smoke smells quite toxic.
There is no word on injuries or a cause at this time.
Winnipeg Police have closed Bismark and Roderick Streets at Springfield Road while crews work to get the fire under control.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area find an alternate route.
