According to Environment Canada there will most likely be cloud cover throughout southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, this afternoon during the solar eclipse.

The Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg is throwing a Solar Eclipse Viewing party for the public this afternoon from noon until 4:00 p.m. However it looks like the eclipse will not likely be seen by those joining the party.

"Unfortunately there will be a lot of cloud movement into the region today," says Chris Stammers, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Stammers shares where the best spot to potentially view the eclipse in Manitoba will be.

"If you go a little bit further north into the Interlake, even Dauphin, they're on the edge of the cloud and it's a little bit thinner so they might be able to see a little bit more than you will in the city [Winnipeg]. If you go further south, it's actually going to be worse. North, if anything, right now looks like your best bet."
