A hair straightener is to blame in a fire that destroyed a North End home.

Just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, a fire broke out in a one-and-a-half storey house in the 100 block of Andrews Street.

When crews arrived, smoke was pouring out of the home. Firefighters were able to enter the home and fight the fire from inside.

Everyone was able to evacuate before crews arrived. No one was injured.

Fire officials say the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical hair straightener being placed in close proximity to combustible materials.
