It's not your ordinary Winnipeg Transit bus, and it's only on the city's streets until Christmas Eve.

Morley Callaghan from Winnipeg Transit says that the annual Santa Bus will once again begin ferrying Winnipeggers on their commute, while at the same time raising funds for a good cause.

All cash fares and anything extra people decide to donate will go towards Winnipeg's Christmas Cheer Board.

According to the Cheer Board's website, they provide "over 18,000 Christmas hampers to individuals and families annually. Families assisted include those receiving Employment Income Assistance (EIA) as well many low-income families and pensioners. Others served may include unemployed persons and recent immigrants."

The Santa Bus will run on Route 60 today and then alternate on different routes throughout the city in the month of December.

Callaghan says that if you'd like to know where the bus is at any given time, you can text "bus 142" to 287-898.
