'God is good': Matthew West survives terrifying car crash
Christian artist Matthew West is praising God that he's alive after he experienced a scary accident on the highway in Tennessee. "I had a scary morning," says Matthew West in a video on his social media. "I had a morning radio interview in Nashville. I get in my car to head straight to the studio because I had a busy day, and it was pouring rain." West posted the video late in the evening of May 8 to his Facebook. "I don't know what happened. To be honest I'm still a little shaken up by it. In the pouring rain all of a sudden, my car started hydroplaning on this highway and I lost complete control of the car." While driving on the left lane of the highway, West's car slammed into a concrete median. "It hit twice. I lost complete control of my vehicle and there was a semi truck. I keep replaying what happened. I'm okay." West recalls his first reaction and instinct as his vehicle started losing control. "I remember saying, 'Dear Jesus, help me.' Screaming that. I remembered a moment when I was a little kid, my mom thought she was going to get into a wreck and I was in the seat next to her. She put her arm over me and she shouted the same thing." While in a bit of shock from the intense experience, West shares lessons he took from it. "I know that God hears us when we pray. I know that God is good and He is faithful. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He had His hand on my life this morning. It could have been so much worse. Even though in some moments I try to live out of my own strength, when crisis hits, like this morning, it's proof that deep down in my heart I have this knowledge that I can't make it without Jesus. God is good."
