For the first time ever Low German speakers now have access to a complete audio Bible. They also have access to the text version, both of which are available through the world's largest Bible app.

The Plautdietsch Audio Bible Project officially launched on the YouVersion Bible App earlier this week. The project was a partnership between the United Bible Society, Kindred Productions, and YouVersion.

Steve Wall is the Senior Pastor of Lebenswasser Church in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was a coordinator on the project.

Wall explained he worked together with the United Bible Society as well as the Winnipeg organization Kindred Productions who are the copyright holders of the Low German Bible to make his dream a reality.

"We have been able to partner up with YouVersion out of Oklahoma and make it available for the first time in its entirety to everybody for free with an internet connection."

An audio version of the Low German New Testament did exist already through the United Bible Society, however Wall wanted to record a full Old and New Testament version.

It took Wall and his team almost 18 months to fully record the audio version of the Low German Bible and completely finish the project.

"Low German is a language in development," Wall says. But a written version of a Low German Bible has been available through United Bible Society for years. This is the translation that was used again in YouVersion.

"We are very thankful for the partners we have been able to work with. One of them is actually out of Winnipeg, Kindred productions." Kindred productions is also a joint holder on the copyright of the Low German Bible. They were very gracious says Wall and extended the rights to the project.

"There is a few hundred thousand people in the world whose primary language is Low German and they have never had the audio bible in their native language." Thanks to the efforts of Wall, his team, You Version and United Bible Society and Kindred Production these people can now listen to the bible anytime in their first language.
