The WPS engage in a second high-speed chase in a matter of two days, two men in their twenties have been charged and detained.

On July 17, 2023, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers from the East District Community Support Unit observed a vehicle travelling westbound on Chief Peguis Trail toward Henderson Highway at a high rate of speed.

Police attempted a traffic stop at Henderson/Litz; the vehicle slowed but did not pull over and stop until it continued into the back lane of Litz Place. The passenger and driver exited and took off running, and the passenger was securing a satchel against his body in a manner consistent with an armed person.

A gun and pills were discarded during a foot pursuit, and the two suspects were taken into custody. As a result of this investigation, the following items were seized:

  • a loaded 9 mm handgun with an obliterated serial number
  • magazine with ammunition
  • Percocet pills (estimated street value of $1,400)
  • crack cocaine (estimated street value of $100)
  • 2 cell phones
  • $485 Canadian currency

A 25-year-old male, Samuel Kifia Andom, of Winnipeg, was charged with 19 offences:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 10

A 27-year-old male, Royce Anthony James Boyle, of Winnipeg, was charged with 12 offences:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohib Weapon, Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2

They were both detained in custody.
