Quite a few Lorette residents were woken up in the wee hours of Monday morning by a large police presence.

A number of residents reported seeing as many as seven police cars, a police dog, and a police helicopter overhead shining a spotlight as it circled the community in the middle of the night.

The community of Lorette receives policing services from the St. Pierre RCMP Detachment, however, this specific incident was actually a Winnipeg Police Service matter.

According to WPS, officers spotted a potentially stolen vehicle early Monday morning. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and left the city. Air1 tracked it to Lorette, where WPS officers arrested an adult male who is facing several charges.
