The women's council of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs says a woman who's accused the grand chief of sending personal text messages to her didn't show up for a meeting on Friday to discuss the allegations.

Arlen Dumas has denied pursuing an intimate relationship with the woman in her early twenties but announced last week that he was taking a temporary leave of absence after she made the allegations to Aboriginal Peoples Television.

The women's council says it offered to meet with the woman but instead she sent three men who offered no evidence to support her claims.

It says it will therefore no longer be part of what it describes as a "social media drama which is clearly targeting all of our First Nation leaders in Manitoba.''

The woman told reporters that she wasn't given enough notice to make the meeting.
