The winter parking ban was scheduled to start Tuesday morning, but due to the heavy snowfall, it is now in effect.
The ban prohibits parking on designated winter routes daily from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. It will be in place until 7 a.m. on Sunday, January 14.
Before parking overnight, the city of Winnipeg is reminding everyone to check streets for both "Winter Route" and "Snow Route" signs, before leaving the car parked overnight.
People can find out if the ban applies to any address or location by:
- Using the online address lookup tool
- Downloading the Know Your Zone app
- Contacting 311
Vehicles parked in violation of the ban may receive a $100 ticket ($75 if paid early). They may also be towed to the towing company’s compound.
The winter route parking ban will start as scheduled on January 16 at 2 a.m.
