Winnipeg was the site of a 273 foot drop this morning, as some community members channeled their inner Spider-Man.

The annual Easter Seals Drop Zone event saw people rappel down the Manitoba Hydro building on Portage Avenue.

Dan Lussier, CEO of Canad Inns, rappeled for his second time. He says it's an awesome experience he would recommend to anybody.

"Last year, which was the first year I did it, I couldn't look down until I was about -- I don't know -- about three quarters of the way down. This year, a little braver, so I did take a peek from the top," said Lussier after completing his descent.

Some scattered rain this morning didn't stop the wall-crawlers, though Lussier says it did make things tricky at first.

"It makes it for a little bit slipperier conditions when you're coming off the ledge because it's an aluminum cap at the top there," he said.

To earn the right to rappel, individual participants were tasked with raising a minimum of $1,500. Teams of two had to raise $2,500, and teams of four had to raise $5,000.

Lussier says Canad Inns is a major sponsor of the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities Foundation.
