A large hydro transformer being moved through a south Winnipeg neighbourhood is blocking traffic Monday morning as the trailer hauling it has broken down.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that Clarence Ave. is closed between Donnelly St. and Hudson St.

The WPS says it expects that traffic will be blocked throughout the entire morning rush hour.

Clarence Ave. is west of Pembina Highway and sits between McGillvray Blvd. to the north and Chevrier Blvd. to the south.

Police are on the scene redirecting traffic.

Originally the WPS had said that it was a house being moved, but have since updated that it is a hydro transformer.
