Due to ice in the drainage network, some major Manitoba rivers and tributaries were affected this weekend by flooding.

In Winnipeg, the water levels at James Avenue decreased on Sunday by 0.3 feet to 19.1 feet, which is around the predicted levels last week.

However, eight local emergencies were declared over the weekend. This includes the RM's of Dufferin, Grey. La Broquerie, Two Borders, and the town of Swan River.

Most of Carman has been affected by the flooding, as schools were cancelled for the day. The hardest area hit in Carman is the residential development Heritage Acres, which is river front to the Boyne River. Ice build-up on the river has caused spring run-off to back up and to start filling the streets. City officials have asked residents to reduce their water usage, and to keep stress off of the sewer system. Hundreds of volunteers in the area have pulled together to fill sandbags in hope that they will protects hundreds of homes in the region.

Swan River is still under a state of emergency, and volunteers have begun to fill sandbags as well, but no property damage has been reported.

Meanwhile, the work on the twenty-five homes that were at-risk in Winnipeg has been completed, city officials said. The Red River is expected to crest April 4 to 5.
