CHVN teamed up with Samaritan's Purse in the annual national collection week for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Once again Winnipegers, and CHVN listeners, proved that we are one of Canada's most generous cities.

Broadcasting live from St. Vital Centre from November 16 through 19, CHVN put the call out to the city to share in the joy of Christmas with children around the world. The response was amazing, seeing one of the highest turnouts in years.

A number of guests stopped by throughout the week, helping spread the word. Among them was local artist, and recent Covenant Award nominee, Jordan St. Cyr, who helped us get in the Christmas spirit with a live on-air performance of Joy to the World. Mayor Brian Bowman also took some time from his busy schedule and encouraged listeners to make packing shoeboxes a family event (like his own family has).

Plenty of people walked away winners with $500 in gift cards for St. Vital Centre handed out, as well as a number of prizes from Papa John's Pizza, and Tim Horton's. On Monday morning one lucky CHVN listener will be notified that they've won a $500 shopping spree for St. Vital Centre. As well, a solid crew of hardworking OCC volunteers kept the boxes moving, and packed high throughout the week.

After all was said & done a total of 2,249 boxes were received throughout the week.

Thank you to each and every person that dropped off a box, to the sponsors that made it all possible, and to you for your generosity.
