The Winnipeg Public Library is donating all fines collected today as part of National Family Literacy Day.

On Friday, January 27, all fines collected by the Winnipeg Public Library will be donated to The Winnipeg Foundation's Literacy for Life Fund.

"The Literacy for Life fund provides grants to bring books, storytelling, and healthy play to family literacy programs across Manitoba," said Ed Cuddy, Manager of Library Services in a release. "Thousands of families have benefited from the fund in Manitoba, including projects here at Winnipeg Public Library."

This will be the fifth year they have provided a donation to the Literacy for Life Fund. Over the past four years, Winnipeg Public Library has donated $13,800.
