Winnipeg police are searching for a suspect after a man walked into a bulk foods store and allegedly threw dirt into some of the bins.

The incident happened Wednesday at around 2:40 p.m. at a business in the 900 block of Empress Street. 

Police say the man entered the store with soil/mud in his hands and immediately began placing it in separate bulk food bins near the entrance. He then fled on foot. 

The food was left unsellable leaving the business with an estimated loss of $2,000.

Investigators are now asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect. 

He is described as an adult male, approximately 25-35 years old, around 5’7” to 5’11” in height with a medium build, dark hair, a goatee and partial beard. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured hooded jacket and light-coloured loose-fitting pants.
