A Winnipeg pastor has been charged with arranging to meet a minor for sexual relations while on vacation.

Nathan George Rieger was arrested on August 10 after he allegedly tried to set up a meeting to have sexual relations with a minor. He has also been charged with meeting with a minor for a sex act. Rieger pleaded not guilty at his August 23 court date.

Rieger, 53, worked at Winnipeg Centre Vineyard Church for nearly 20 years. He was on vacation in Arroyo Grande, northwest of Los Angeles, when he was arrested.

The accused was released on a $25,000 bail. He is expected back in court on August 30.

An official with the Winnipeg church said the pastor has voluntarily resigned from his position. The church has put together care and prayer nights for members of the church.
