A Winnipeg man is currently in custody after being arrested Sunday evening after trying to meet with what he thought was a 14-year-old boy.

The Ward County Sherrif's Department says the 44-year-old has been arrested for trying to lure a minor for sex.

The North Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began communicating with the man on a mobile app in March. The man thought he was communicating with a 14-year-old boy but was actually talking with undercover officers.

The Sherrifs Department says that they continued to communicate throughout the summer and eventually the man arranged to meet the child for sex in Minot, North Dakota.

The man was arrested Sunday evening when he arrived for their meeting. He remains in custody in Minot.
