The Winnipeg Ice and Hockey Winnipeg are teaming up to score big for youth hockey teams in the region.

The Ice are hosting the Dianne Woods Memorial Weekend inside the ICE Cave when the Ice take on the Moose Jaw Warriors on January 21 (8 p.m.) and January 22 (5 p.m.).

All minor hockey teams and coaches have the opportunity to bring their teams to a game through the Winnipeg Ice and Hockey Winnipeg partnership.

Tickets are complimentary for players and coaches.  Additional parent or sibling tickets purchased using the promo code HKYWPG will see a portion of their ticket purchase be donated back to the Dianne Woods Memorial Player Financial Assistance program.

Woods was a beloved figure in Manitoban hockey circles who spent years "filling volunteer and leadership roles in Manitoba's hockey community Starting with the St. James-Assiniboia Minor Hockey Association."

The Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame says that Woods's work "helped pioneer the establishment and development of a female hockey program in Manitoba." She was one of the only female presidents of a junior hockey club in Canada in the '90s and served as the manager for Team Manitoba at the 1995 Canada Winter games, among numerous other positions.

Woods passed away in 2011 and Hockey Winnipeg created the Dianne Woods Memorial Player Financial Assistance program to help kids play the sport who would not be able to without financial assistance.
