Winnipeg Foundation is distributing hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to organizations that are helping care for vulnerable members of the city as COVID-19 continues to become a concern.

Rick Frost, Winnipeg Foundation's CEO, says that the organization has distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars so far to help Winnipeg organizations continue their work helping the city's most vulnerable.

"Everyone right now is facing challenges," Frost says. "Our focus is going to be on those organizations providing support for the most vulnerable."

Their first focus was towards Winnipeg's more vulnerable populations and distributed funds to organizations such as Agape Table, Lighthouse Mission, and Union Gospel Mission. Frost adds that they recently gave a grant worth $100 thousand to Winnipeg Harvest.

Frost recommends, that if people are able to, to help organizations financially or to consider donating the money from a cancelled art event to the organization.

"Winnipeg is a very generous city... but this is going to be a time when everybody has to rally," Frost says. "I think that every organization is going to do the very best they can to make it through this."

Winnipeg Foundation's office doors have closed to the public, but the team is still hard at work distributing their regular grants and emergency grants as the need grows.
