Madox Suzio's parents are using his life and his story to help children battling brain cancer. 

Madox died of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma in 2014, and now his parents Marco and Suzanne Suzio are putting on their fourth annual Kids Dance Party to raise money for cancer research and remind parents that every moment with their children is special. 

The event is run through their charity, Madox's Warriors. 

"It's a way for us to celebrate him and keep talking about him," Marco said. "Every event we do is bittersweet because we see kids there having fun and he's not there, but we still see a lot of his old friends coming out in his honour and remembering him." 

"There's going to be a silent auction, kids dancing and just having a lot of fun." 

Marco says what they went through was frustrating, but it made them want to help other families in similar situations. 

"We've seen what childhood cancer can do to us as parents, what it did to Madox's brother as a sibling, what it does to families and it's terrible," he said. "The most frustrating thing we found is there was a zero per cent chance of survival. There are some children who have lived for two years but they say the average is five to ten months. It's a terrible thing to go through as a family and a terrible thing for a child to think about."

Marco says 100 per cent of their proceeds from their events go directly to labs conducting research aimed at combating child cancer. 

He says the past two years their money has gone to a lab in Chicago analyzing the same kind of cancer Madox had. 

He says Madox's Warriors has raised $85,000 since it started three years ago.

The event kicks off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Heather Curling Club at 120 Youville St. It will include a face painting station, a kids vs parents limbo competition and a photo booth.
