Business groups are worried about how tougher COVID-19 rules for the Winnipeg region will affect company bottom lines.

The province has imposed tough new restrictions due to rising COVID-19 numbers.

Starting Monday, beverage rooms, bingo halls and casinos must close, while restaurants, lounges, retail stores, museums and libraries will be limited to half capacity.

Gatherings will be limited to five people and fewer people will allowed to sit together at a restaurant table.

The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce says the lack of financial aid from the province means the new restrictions could push some companies over the edge.
