A sold-out crowd is expected tonight at the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party.

As of this morning, all 15,000 tickets to tonight's street party had been sold according to Matt Schaubroeck, corporate communications manager for Economic Development Winnipeg.

The enormous downtown celebration will gather to cheer on the Winnipeg Jets in their second playoff game against the St. Louis Blues.

In addition to a huge turnout at tonight's street party, Schaubroeck says the sold-out experience means that a total of $75,000 will be donated to United Way.

"We thought it was important to give back to the community," Schaubroeck explained, referring to the $5.00 price newly attached to the street party tickets this year. "Last years' celebrations were such a phenomenal experience, and we wanted to now give it even more meaning."

Schaubroeck said that he was positively surprised to find out that tickets to tonight's street party had sold out. "It's just going to be a really loud, celebratory atmosphere."

Winnipeg's current climate seems to also have bought into the Whiteout hype, with periods of light snow expected and an evening windchill of minus seven degrees.

"I'm not going to say very often that it's nice when it snows in Winnipeg in April, but we'll call it today a positive," Schaubroeck chucked.

"Go Jets Go!"
