The lead singer of a Manitoban Christian country band is in awe of the response to a video he made for fun last week.

Rob Thiessen and his brother-in-law Joe Kaonga recorded a parody video of Toto's "Africa" last week. Since first posting it to Facebook the video has now been viewed online over 400,000 times.

"It's crazy," Thiessen says about the worldwide attention the video has garnered. "It's not what I'm used to or expected . . . it's pretty exciting to see it shared around and bringing some happiness to different people. God works in mysterious ways."

Thiessen's regular band, Prairie Joe, is made up of his brothers and a brother-in-law. "At the start of this month, we had decided to take three months off. We had a very busy year, and the other four guys were quite tired. That's why they're not in this video - I thought I'd give them a break."

But with the newfound fame, the band has decided to do something special. "We thought, 'You know what, we should just release a song and give people a taste of what we do.'"

The band has put their single "Good Advice" out for free download, which you can get here. "All the words in there are exactly what we're thinking too about this newfound popularity and kind of instant fame. 'Don't auction off your soul to the devil son.' So, we're not giving anything up!"

You can also find their full album on Spotify and iTunes.
