Local group The COLOR has been nominated for a few Covenant Awards, but to them, it's not about the awards.

At last year's Covenant Awards, The COLOR left with three wins, all for the song 'What I Would Say To You', which was a project done with the community of Winkler.

"It was a special award for us," guitarist James Shiels said after the win.

This year, they are back with even more nominations after a very successful year that saw them release a new album and chart on Billboard in the States.

"It's very exciting to be nominated," said lead singer Jordan Janzen, who was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year.

"For us, it's afirming to the process of what we do," Janzen continued. "We don't do it for the awards, there is a greater purpose for it."

That purpose is sharing God with Canada. As of this year, their reach expanded into the States with the release of 'Surprise'.

"It's a thrill for us to be honest," said Shiels. "To be able to expand and connect with more people . . . is something we hope to see continue.

"What we desire to do is spread life and hope through music."

The COLOR will have many opportunities to reach out to people and share the message of God as they continue to perform and release music.

The COLOR was nominated for:

  • Pop Song of the Year - Surprise
  • Pop Song of the Year - First Day of My Life
  • Artist of the Year
  • Male Vocalist of the Year - Jordan Janzen
  • Group of the Year
  • Recorded Song of the Year - Surprise
  • Song of theYear - Surprise

If they had to choose, Janzen says they would love to win Group of the Year.  But, he repeated, this isn't about the awards.
