Manitoba is edging close to 40,000 COVID-19 cases with Tuesday's announcement of 291 new cases.

Holy Cross School and The King’s School have both moved online for remote learning. The King’s School is online until May 16 and Holy Cross School until May 12. Both are outbreak sites and are moved to Critical (Red) level on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System. Both schools are in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg's five-day test positivity rate is creeping closer to 10 per cent as the province announces over 200 cases in the city. In Winnipeg, there are 212 new COVID-19 cases, moving the city's five-day test positivity rate to 9.2 per cent. 

Manitoba's test rate is 8.5 per cent with a total of 291 new cases including:

  • 12 cases in the Interlake–Eastern health region
  • seven cases in the Northern health region
  • 31 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
  • 29 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region

There are 39,814 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province after one case was removed due to a data correction. 

A man in his 40s for Winnipeg linked to the B.1.1.7 variant has died, bringing the total number of deaths to 980.

There are 182 people in the hospital with COVID-19, including 62 who are no longer infectious. Of the patients in the hospital, 47 require ICU care and 11 of those in critical care are no longer infectious. There are 36,142 individuals who have recovered.

The Swan Valley Lodge Personal Care Home is no longer the site of an outbreak.
