It's bigger and better, and that means Winnipeg's newest thrift store will be able to reach even more people with God's Word.

Mission Thrift Store celebrated the grand opening of its new location on Saturday, June 15.

"I just feel so blessed and so thankful for where we are, for how we've come, and everything [God's] given us," store manager Jennifer Smith says.

The store was originally located on McLeod Ave., and had limited space. The new building at 701 Regent Ave. West is in a former Safeway and Extra Foods building, providing it with wide open space to house everything from books to furniture.

Smith says that God moved in a number of ways to make the big move possible. That included generosity from Kildonan Place who provided the store with fixtures from the former Sears and Payless Shoes stores.

Turning used goods into Scripture and more

Mission Thrift Stores is a volunteer-driven, non-denominational Christian organization that currently operates more than 50 thrift stores across Canada, through the BFM Foundation.

BFM takes profits from the stores, and through a partnership with Bible League Canada turns the profits into Bibles which are distributed around the world. However, the organizations do much more than simply getting God's Word into people's hands. They also plant churches, run children's ministries, and serve the Persecuted Church.
